This Weekend I...

I have a confession to make. I love the public library. I love coming out feeling accomplished when I have a few books under my arm. In my head I think, Hell yeah! I'm totally set for the weekend! which may or may not make me sound like a nerd, but I don't care. I also love getting things for free which is why the library is so much fun for me. I always seem to get pretty overwhelmed when I get to the fiction section so on most occasions I quickly pick up a book from the fiction section, then I head over to peruse the classics. On the most recent trip I picked up Grass Roof, Tin Roof and Gulliver's Travels. I don't know how little kids used to read this book. Maybe I'll get into it in a chapter or two, but so far it is eh. It may just be me, but it is really slow-paced. But what do I know? I didn't like Catcher in the Rye, or at least I didn't like Holden Caulfield.

In other news I bought a new favorite lipstick. After seeing fafinettex3's latest haul video I went out, and bought Pink Please from the Maybelline Color Sensationals line. It's kind of like the best thing since flavored seltzer (which is very high on my Favorite Things list).
It's really pigmented, really moisturizing, and it smells pretty good. My only gripe is that it tastes kind of bitter. I'm planning on getting many more because I'm pretty in love with the one I have.

TAG

1.Thing you cannot leave the house without
Keys

2.Favorite brand of makeup
Jane, Maybelline, NYX

3.Favorite Flowers
Tulips, Peonies, Freesia, Hydrangea. The list goes on and on because flowers are one of my all-time favorite things.

4.Fav clothing stores
H+M, Marshall's, and Forever 21 I suppose. I don't really go clothes shopping. I would much rather buy food.

5.Fav perfume
I don't wear perfume, but in general I like fruity scents.

6.Heels or flats
I love looking at heels, but I usually wear flats.

7.Do you make good grades?
I used to make good grades in elementary then I slacked off in high school. I've tried to stay on top of my game in college so yes. I do make good grades, but I have to work for them. I'm not one of those people that just knows everything without putting any effort into it.

8.Fav colors
I like coral and teal

9.Do you drink energy drinks?
I used to drink them before work, but I've weened myself off of them.

10.Do you drink juice?
I love juice, but now I mix it with water because it's too sweet.

11.Do you like swimming?
No. I'm a terrible swimmer. I like floating in water, but swimming is definitely not one of my
favorite activities.

12.Do you eat fries with a fork?
Nope.

13.Whats your fav moisturizer?
The Aldi q10 day cream is good, but it has no SPF so I use it at night now. During the day I use
Aveeno Ultra-Calming moisturizer.

14.Do you want to get married later on in life?
Maybe.

15.Do you get mad easily?
Not really. I get sad more easily than mad.

16.Are you into ghost hunting?
I think it's cool, but I don't do it myself.

17.Any phobias?
Spiders freak me out, but I know that they are not going to hurt me. They're just doing their job, and eating mosquitoes so I let them hang out in my room sometimes because as much as spiders freak my out I HATE mosquitoes.

18.Do you bite your nails?
Nope. I did when I was younger, but not anymore!

19.Have you ever had a near death experience?
Yes, I once got caught in a riptide when there was an oncoming storm.

20.Do you drink coffee?
No, I love tea though.

I wasn't tagged by anyone so I tagged myself! I tag anyone who hasn't done this because it's fun to write and read. Now I'm off to watch The Daily Show, and play the second Professor Layton game. :)

Today's Outfit

I don't know if I should do this on a regular basis or not considering I'm not very "fashion-savvy," but I'll give it a try anyway because I like it when people post theirs. Oh yeah and don't mind the giant mess in the background. There was just a tiny tornado in my room. Category 2. Nothing major.Forever 21 T-shirt, Braided belt Stolen from Mom, Pacsun jeans, and boots from WALMART!! But the best part of the outfit is..
this pair of earrings. Also stolen from my mom. She has much better taste than I do.

Looking at it now the boots + skinny jeans combo makes me look like one of the seven dwarfs. Eh, I'll blame it on the camera angle.

This Weekend I...

Played with some berry-hued Urban Outfitters nail polish (Review coming up soon!)Made some TERRIBLE origami. That's a butterfly and a cup in case you can't tell. Which I probably wouldn't know if I wasn't the one who made them. One day I'll get good enough to make those kick-ass lotus blossoms. Until then I'll stick with the easy stuff like cootie catchers and airplanes.

I also made some eyeshadow using the mineral eyeshadow kit from TKB Trading. This is a really fun kit to have. It has everything you need to make your own mineral eyeshadow and you get a LOT of pigment to play around with. So if you often have color cravings that you can't satisfy then you might want to pick up the kit. You can also try to make dupes for colors that are out of your price range.

I also studied and did homework. It seems like every single communications class I have has at LEAST a chapter devoted to ethics. I also ate bowls upon bowls of Corn Pops, and caught up on all of the CW shows that I don't watch since I have no cable.

FINALLY an Update

I feel like if I were a animal I would definitely be a hybrid hummingbird/sloth. I'm lazy and I like naps which makes me like a sloth. At the same time I have a seriously short attention span and fly from one thing to another. For the past couple of months I have entertained myself with lots of different hobbies. I've almost completely ignored beauty related things, and as a result have ignored the blog because I thought, Eh nobody's reading. What's the point of wasting my time? But apparently people are reading! I logged into my blogspot for the first time in a couple of months to find a few followers and some comments! So now I'll update more often about all of the things that interest me. So now I'll show you some of the things that I HAVE been doing.Making tiny things out of polymer clay is a lot tougher than it seems.
I had a few wooden slabs of wood that I wanted to do something with, but that fell through so I just painted it. It's still a work in progress. EVERTHING I do is a work in progress.I wanted to make a bracelet like the awesome Disney Couture Kidada bracelet without the high price tag, but the suede was not as soft as I would have liked. I'll try again, hopefully with better results.

I have to get in plenty of "fetch time" before it gets too cold!

I've also been playing Super Marion Galaxy on my new Wii! My best friend, and I play this game all of the time. It's so much more fun to play with someone, if you're good at sharing that is. Sims, on the other hand is best when played by yourself.

Sally's Beauty "Haul"

I purchased a few things at Sally's today, and I thought I'd show you the goods.
Batiste Dry Shampoo in Original, 2 pairs of Ardell lashes in Fairies and Demi, and lastly 2 Sally Girl sparke effects in Midnight Blue and Pearly White. I'll probably use the glitter in nail polish or something. I'm really excited to use the Batiste spray, so I guess I'll be gross and stay out of the shower. :P

NOTD

I have a problem. It's sort of a compulsion really. If there is one chip or smudge in my nail polish I have to do it over. I can't just repaint the single nail, of course not. I have to do another manicure in another color. (I waste so many cotton balls. At least cotton is a sustainable resource.) Anyway I had managed to keep of Sally Hansen's Peachful Breeze of for a few days. I've always hate Sally Hansen nail polish because it seems that no matter how long you patiently sit there WAITING for the polish to dry it never does. Just when you think its safe to click away at your keyboard your polish smudges into that gooey messy way that only dear Aunt Sally's can. That being said I finally got it to dry, and it sat prettily for three or so days. So I tried another Sally Hansen polish that I had at the bottom of my polish basket. And no, I don't display my nail polishes in neat little lines like ready soldiers. The all canoodle together in a basket bonding and sharing stories. I got out a polish from a french manicure set, Natural 2 I believe, and then I got out a glitter polish to make a nice little gradient and this is what I came up with.

DIY Pore Strips

As a tween my friends and I had sleepovers in which we tried out every beauty treatment we could, one right after another. We did calming cucumber masks followed by re-energizing citrus scrubs. One night in particular we tried a few Biore products: the Biore Self Heating Mask and, the famous, Biore Deep Cleansing Pore Strips. The mask was pretty amazing. I don't know if it actually cleaned out my pores, but it felt SO nice. It was as if my face was being wrapped in a warm blanket of goodness. Maybe if I were more articulate I could describe it better. It felt awesome, for lack of a better word. This post however, is not about the amazing packet of liquid sunshine that was the mask. It is about the Pore Strips. (Who would have thought.) That night with my friends I discovered the magic of pore strips. Alas growing up the price of pore strips was a bit too hefty so I rarely got them. Now that I have some more money in the bank I still don't want to pay eight dollars for a few pieces of nose tape. Soooo I present to you my craft store dupe....
GLUE!!!

Although it doesn't smell that great it works pretty well. You just have to be careful taking it off because it is a lot more fragile than a pore strip.

DISCLAIMER: This is not my idea. I got this idea from a beauty book. Don't blame me if you got high while doing this. You can blame the author. I'll forward your complaints to her. Do this at your own risk!

Lacura Lipsticks

If you've never heard of Aldi it's a supermarket chain from Germany that adopts a no-frills approach to marketing which allows them to offer items at EXTREMELY low prices. Most of what they sell is their own brand, but they do sell some things from major brands as well. Recently I stumbled upon their Lacura Beauty line which features a limited selection of powders, eyeshadows, blushes, nail polish, and lipstick. I picked up two of the lipsticks at around $4 each, one in Cool Sands and the other in Coral.Cools Sands is a golden brown color with gold shimmer. Coral is a rose color with a bit of mauve, and a slight pink shimmer. Both have that unmistakeable lipstick smell which could be a problem for some people, but I don't really mind it. They are a little drying, but that's nothing that some lipgloss can't solve. The color selection isn't extensive, but all of the colors are wearable. Some inexpensive drugstore brands have tons of colors, but many of them are unflattering and hard to pull off. The color doesn't last too long, but at $4 I don't feel guilty reapplying. I reccomend Coral over Cool Sands because it's an almost neutral pink with a bit of sparkle and would look great on everyone.
